Schneithorst Restaurants

For nearly 100 years the Schneithorst’s family of restaurants has been serving great meals to St. Louisans and visitors from around the world.

 

From the current location in central St. Louis, Schneithorst’s has been occupying the corner of Clayton & Lindbergh and operating now under the 3rd generation of Schneithorsts to take the reins.  Slowly the transition began for James E. Schneithorst, Jr., to take over the control of Clayton & Lindbergh. Originally occupying the entire southeast corner of the intersection, the facility was known as a multi-purpose facility providing fine dining, the Kafee Haus, banquet rooms, the bierkeller, and catering services. 

 

While the menu has changed over the years, the one thing that remains constant is great food! We made sure to bring some of our fine German flavors into the Kafee Haus. After a rebuilding of the Kafee Haus in 1995, the stage was set for a new generation of change; what we like to call the new “Modern Tradition”.  Part of the famous Schneithorst’s Modern Tradition is the Bierkeller – known for its stone décor and Arthur Schneithorst’s expansive collection of steins from around Europe. The Bierkeller has long been a respected place for the quick mid-day business meeting, drinks at the daily happy hour, or a great place to take in a night of libations.

 

In 2002, construction began on creating the newest shopping facility in the area, surrounding Schneithorst’s. Since its completion, the Village at Schneithhorst’s now houses a wide selection of shops and offices – and of course the great food, fine spirits and renewed birth of the St. Louis tradition of dining well at Schneithorst’s.

 

PERFORMANCE Foodservice has enjoyed a great working relationship with Schneithorst’s for over 25 years, with the past 1.5 years as their prime vendor. Throughout this relationship, PERFORMANCE Foodservice – Middendorf has provided customized solutions to Schneithorst’s such as new menu designs, server training, and website improvements to name a few. Peggy Naes, Area Manager (pictured) works closely with Steve Stockhausen, General Manager (pictured) to not only keep this landmark restaurant supplied with the freshest products today, but to ensure the ever-changing customer expectations are satisfied completely well into the future.
