The Kitchen Express
The Kitchen Express “the little restaurant with the big feast” has been in business bringing food to the table for 25 years. Owner, Sedrick Mays was tired of working for somebody else so he decided to open up his own restaurant. The restaurant serves down-home cooking and are best known for their fried chicken, greens, mac & cheese and their world famous peach cobbler. They have 25 employees and pride themselves on being a multi-generational employer - from grandmother to grandchildren.
The Kitchen Express is a fixture in the local community of Little Rock, AR - if not the whole United States - offering up three meals each day. They have served food to the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Derrick Fisher, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton - not to mention the multitudes of people that have come through their doors in 25 years. At a recent banquet to celebrate their 25th year of doing business, it was learned that the local fire chief could not even go to a convention in Houston, Texas without bringing along a peach cobbler.
Its not all about the food though. Sedrick serves on the University Board for Economic Development and is also involved with the local community, American Taekwondo Association, and the Scottish Rite Masons as a 32nd degree mason. Sedrick and his wife Kathy never say no to a soul. If there is a person hungry, down on their luck or just needs some help, they are there to provide.
