We are pleased to announce that Jim Hartsell has been appointed to serve as the first chairman of the International Food Distributors Association (IFDA) Food Safety and Security Committee. This committee is composed of food safety and quality assurance leaders from several foodservice distributors including Performance Food Group, Sysco, US Foodservice, Unipro, and many others. As chairman, Jim will work closely with IFDA on current issues, such as food safety legislation in the United States Senate and House, and product traceability studies currently being formulated by FDA. He will work closely with other regulatory agencies such as USDA, USDC, and the FDA on the development of food safety policies.
Jim has over 25 years of food safety/QA experience in foodservice distribution, and has also worked in processing/production facilities as director of quality assurance. Jim was hired by PFG in 2002 to lead the food safety/QA department. In his current position as Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Jim has developed numerous policies, practices, and procedures to protect the integrity of our PFG Branded products, and maintain the highest standards of food safety and product quality.
