Did You Miss the Pizza Expo?

The International Pizza Expo is the largest and longest-running pizza trade show in the world. In March of this year, the Pizza Expo celebrated its 29th anniversary, and what a celebration it was!

Hosted in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada, the Pizza Expo typically attracts almost 7,000 annual pizzeria owners and operators, all of whom are interested in looking at new products, gaining new ideas, and building relationships with some of the over 400 vendors that participate on the show floor.

Attendees have the ability to attend education sessions, seminars, panel discussions and live cooking and baking demonstrations. They also participated in—or were spectators of—the several cooking, baking, and dough throwing competitions that drew big crowds and offered incredible prizes (in addition to bragging rights).

Roma BoothPerformance Foodservice, as a leader in the foodservice industry, had a brand new booth for this year’s Expo that was reflective of its unique knowledge of Italian specialty items. Beautiful and colorful images of Italian foods and family gatherings adorned the booth’s upper display panels, and a huge line-up of pizza-related products decorated the booth’s front and back displays. Dry pastas, meatballs, pizza toppings, dressings, tomatoes, sauces, imports, desserts, and specialty breads were displayed for customers to see for themselves, and items were available all day for tasting. Our chefs cooked up pizzas of every type, from the typical cheese pizza with our incredible Bacio cheese, to specialty pizzas with prosciutto, goat cheese, and caramelized onions. Chocolate-covered cannolis were being filled next to flavorful cups of espresso, and multiple cheeses were available for tasting with advice from our cheese experts based out of Minnesota, the location of our cheese processing plant. Overall, the Roma booth was quite the place to be!

Dessert PizzaIn a special check presentation, Performance Foodservice donated a check for $436,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief. Thanks to all of the countless Bacio Cheese and Performance Foodservice customers, whose participation during our Bacio Blocks of Hope campaign led to such an impactful donation for a well-deserved cause.

If we were lucky enough to see you at the show and you saw product you liked, make sure to talk to your sales rep about giving some new products a try. You never know when a newly invented recipe will be a huge hit on your menu.
