3 C WATER
1 ½ LBS BUTTER BEANS OR 32 OZ OF CANNED BEANS
2 TBL SUGAR
½ LB OKRA
1 TBL SALT
2 TBL BLACK PEPPER
PLACE THE HAM HOCKS AND WATER IN A LARGE STOCK POT. COVER AND HEAT TO BOILING. REDUCE TO SIMMER FOR 45 MINUTE. REMOVE HOCKS AND SHRED THE MEAT THEN RETURN TO WATER. NOW ADD BEANS, SUGAR, SALT OKRA AND PEPPER TO PAN AND COOK FOR 25 MINUTES UNTIL BEASN ARE DONE THEN SERVE.
