Cook the pasta according to the directions on the package.
Heat a sauce pan to medium-high and then add half of the oil. Sauté onions, garlic and half of the tasso for about 2-3 minutes. Add the heavy cream and shrimp base and allow to simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once cream mixture is reduced, in a separate sauté pan add remaining oil, shrimp and tasso, season with salt and pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes or until shrimp are done.
Pour cream sauce over pasta and portion out shrimp and tasso.
