La Plaza's story took a pivotal turn when Krystal and Daniel Hernandez became the owners, leading the restaurant to flourish ever since. Visitors from all over the state are drawn to La Plaza Fiesta for its exceptional food and vibrant atmosphere.

In February 2016, tragedy struck when La Plaza Fiesta and eight other businesses on Madelia’s historic Main Street were devastated by a massive fire, leaving them in ruins. This was a significant loss for the well-established institution. However, with the support of charitable donations and strong community involvement, Krystal and her team were able to temporarily relocate and continue serving their loyal guests while the Main Street location was rebuilt.
