El Ranchito, Arlington & Dallas, TX.
In 1983, following the success of La Calle Doce, Oscar and Laura Sanchez set out to open another restaurant — but they knew they wanted to create something different. Rather than duplicate their previous success or open another typical Tex-Mex restaurant, Oscar wanted to bring something to Dallas that couldn’t be found anywhere else: a taste of home.
Both Oscar and Laura are from Monterrey, Nuevo León, in Northern Mexico, and they wanted to share the flavors and traditions they grew up with. They decided to create a restaurant specializing in Comida Norteña (Northern Mexican cuisine) alongside Tex-Mex favorites, featuring traditional dishes such as cabrito, mollejas, and asado de puerco.
Today, El Ranchito is known for its authentic Mexican food, freshly made tortillas, and festive atmosphere, where mariachi music can be enjoyed daily. Together, the food, music, and friendly staff bring to life Oscar and Laura’s original vision: creating a place where every guest feels as though they’ve been transported back home to Monterrey.
