The Story Behind the Writer
A third-culture kid born in Italy and raised between Rome, New York, and Virginia, Gabriella has long used food and storytelling to anchor her identity and explore the unique perspectives of others. As a pre-teen, she ran at-home "test kitchens," developing recipes for everything from macarons to borscht, to bánh mì. She became a journalist in the late 2010s and now writes about food, culture, and media, often through the lens of sustainability and ethics. She firmly believes the pistachio is the superior tree nut — though technically, it’s a drupe (and she is the kind of person who would take the time to point that out).
