Freestyle Category Winner: Chile Relleno Grilled Cheese
Chef Jason Triail’s Chile Relleno Grilled Cheese sandwich captured the Freestyle category title with a bold interpretation inspired by classic Mexican flavors.
The sandwich layers Real California Jack, Real California Habanero Cheddar, and Real California Cheddar with roasted poblano chiles and house-made ranchera salsa, creating a rich, melty base balanced by smoky peppers and vibrant acidity. The blend of cheeses provides the stretch and creamy texture operators look for in a grilled cheese while allowing the bold flavors of the peppers and salsa to shine.
