Blood Orange, Beet, & Cardamom Sipping Sour


  1. In a pot over medium-high heat combine water, beets, blood orange juice and peels, ginger, vinegar, honey, cinnamon stick, cardamom, allspice, black pepper, and cloves.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and cool completely. Sour can be strained at this point or held with fruit and strained for service.
  4. Hold refrigerated until needed.


  • 1 qt water, distilled
  • 2 cups beet(s), red, peeled, grated
  • 2 ea orange(s), blood, juice and peel
  • 1/4 cup ginger, grated fresh
  • 1/4 cup vinegar, apple cider
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 ea McCormick Culinary® Cinnamon, Sticks, crushed
  • 1 tsp McCormick Culinary® Cardamom, ground
  • 1 tsp McCormick Culinary® Ground Allspice
  • 1 tsp McCormick Culinary® cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp McCormick Culinary® Cloves, Ground
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink sea salt
