Cholula® Carne Asada Queso


  1. In a heavy bottom pot, over medium heat melt butter. Add onions and cook until caramelized.
  2. Add flour and Cholula Chile Pepper Carne Asada Seasoning Mix. Stir and cook to make a roux.
  3. Slowly add milk, whisking to thicken. Use a rubber spatula scraping the bottom and sides of the pot to avoid burning.
  4. Remove from heat and add cheese. Stir until cheese is fully melted. Hold hot for service or refrigerate for later use.


  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup onion, 1/8 in. dice
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cholula® Chile Pepper Carne Asada Seasoning Mix
  • 2 1/4 cup Milk
  • 18 oz cheese, American, white, shredded
