Dutch Apple Pie

Directions

  1. Make the apple filling by tossing all of the ingredients together. Place in a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
  2. Top the apple filling with the Heritage Ovens Graham Cracker Crumb mixture. Cover with foil. Bake for 50 minutes at 350°F. Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes of baking to allow it to brown a little more.
  3. The pie is done when the apple filling is bubbling.
  4. Serve hot. Ice cream or whipped cream is optional.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup sugar, brown
  • 1 tbsp. Apple pie spice, (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves)
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 lemon(s), juice of
  • 1/4 cup water
  • pinch of salt

Graham Cracker Crumb Topping

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor.
  2. Pulse until the butter mixes with the crumbs and the mixture becomes coarse and almond-sized.
